The Clarinet

The Clarinet is a woodwind instrument that uses the vibrations of a single cane reed to produce sound. As a player blows onto the reed, located at the mouthpiece, vibrations begin. Having the largest range of most standard woodwinds instruments, the clarinet is typically is in the key of Bb. Pitch is changed on the clarinet by opening and closing tone holes on the instrument. The amount of air pressure being sent in the instrument is also a factor in changing pitch in the instrument.
