The Flute

The Flute is a woodwind instrument that produces sound when air is blown across an opening near the end of the instrument. A standard concert flute typically comes in the key of C, and has a range of three octaves. The player changes the pitch by opening and closing holes on the instrument, also by the amount of air pressure being put in the instrument. The Flute is different from all the other woodwind instruments. Woodwind instruments require a thin piece of wood, also known as a reed, that vibrates to produce sound. The flute can produce the sound without a reed.
