Joel Moore
Joel Moore earned an M.M. in Jazz Pedagogy from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2000. He has studied with notable musicians such as Rick Margitza, Bob Berg, and Ellis Marsalis. Joel taught at three Chicago-area universities, covering subjects like jazz history, music appreciation, jazz ensemble, and jazz improvisation. Since 2003, he has instructed hundreds of private saxophone and clarinet students. Joel is a passionate performer and educator dedicated to demystifying jazz improvisation.
His lessons focus on tone development, instrumental technique, reading music, theory, and jazz improvisation. Joel plays jazz, rhythm and blues, and classical saxophone. Many of his former students have successfully auditioned into top middle school and high school music ensembles, and several have been awarded college scholarships at institutions like Northwestern, Berklee College of Music, and the University of Denver. Joel is committed to helping students reach their goals and stay inspired, provided they have the desire and are willing to put in the work.
